With much fanfare, pomp and ceremony, daughter of the soil Dr Gem Linda Lall-Dunn, wife of Dallas multi-millionaire Robert Dunn, officially launched her natural medicine and wellness television talk show at Paria Suites Hotel & Conference Centre, La Romaine, last Monday night.
Lall-Dunn, who resides with her husband and her son, Derrick Emery Jr, in Texas, returned to T&T after 40 years abroad, with her Dallas crew, to launch the television series–Gem of the Caribbean (GOTC).
The four-part series is expected to be aired on local television in three weeks.
Decked off in a red flowing strapless gown, Lall-Dunn and her crew arrived in stylish antique cars and were greeted with flying confetti. Flower girls lined her pathway with petals as she made her way into the hotel. Guests were welcomed by Guinness Book of Records world record-holder pianist Charles Brunner.
Speaking at the black tie event, Lall-Dunn, a general practitioner who holds doctorates in nutrition, naturopathy and in drug/alcohol abuse, said the programme was a gift to the people of T&T, and by extension the Caribbean. She said it would enlighten citizens about their natural therapies, health, diet, disease prevention and longevity.
As the host of the TV series she promised a short and sweet programme with a variety of relevant information. Praising her husband, GOTC's chief executive officer, for his monetary support, she said the programme will first be broadcasted on CNMG, with re-runs on CNC3-TV.
Dunn-Lall boasted that her team has the answer to many ailments, including dengue fever, diabetes and heart complications. She said they were working on setting up a Web site so people could order medicines and get information on line. Her local representative is fashion designer Pat Garia. GOTC's co-host Dr Edward Group III, chief executive officer of Global Healing Centre, said the programme will teach people how to treat with any health condition.
Group, who has studied natural healing methods and alternative medicine for 20 years, said: "We all have the ability to heal ourselves. What is keeping us suppressed is the amount of toxins accumulating in the body. The bodies everywhere around the world are so full of toxic build-up it is suppressing self healing." Hence the reason why the GOTC is eager to teach people how to cleanse their bodies.
Endorsing the programme, Opposition Leader Basdeo Panday, who attended the event with his wife Oma, said it was extremely gratifying when citizens who leave the country consider it their duty to return and bestow upon the less fortunate some of which they had gained.
Having regard to the state of the local health services, Panday said the TV series will be an enormous benefit to the people of T&T. Dunn-Lall dined and wined her guests, including Dr Roy Teeluckdharry, Dr Carol Edgington and Dr Edmund Michael, as well as relatives and friends, to Texas songs and a delicious meal.
