Gall reaches for the stars
Young and talented artiste Tevin Gall.
Tevin R Gall, an 18-year-old vocalist, is now walking toward the spotlight and he’s assiduously striving to make his name. The singer is aspiring to attend university in the United States. “I want to go to either Morgan State University in Baltimore or Suny Plattsburg in New York,” he says with confidence. For this reason, the young man who, this year, graduated from St Mary’s College, is hosting his very own concert. Scheduled to be held on November 14 at All Saints Church, Marli Street, Port-of-Spain, the affair will begin at 7 pm and will feature some of the most dynamic voices in local musical entertainment. With Eddie Cumberbatch, Nigel Floyd, Justin Salloum, John Thomas and the Eastern Youth Chorale set to perform, the teen is guaranteeing an engaging and uplifting concert performance.
Gall also says there’ll be many other youths involved in the show. He added: “The All Saints Pan Ensemble of the All Saints Church will also be a part of the entertainment line-up.” The teen has always been involved in music. At secondary school, he studied languages and voice. Added to that, the vocalist, who also plays the piano, has been a member of the Marionettes Chorale for the past three years. “My mother is a single parent and I’m looking at universities abroad that will offer financial aid. This concert will also allay costs associated with my pursuits.” Prior to his involvement in music, Gall’s passion lay solely within the realm of art. These days, though, music has overshadowed his artistic passion but he maintains, “I love visual art.”
On November 14, shades of the season will be brought to life. Gall says there will be musical pieces sung from all genres, including gospel, jazz, show tunes and traditional and contemporary Christmas music. Striving to become a professional interpreter, the young man who, in 2008, placed third in the Music Festival’s open category, is certainly striving to weave his name into the fibre of the local music fraternity. With his head to the sky and optimism his friend, Tevin Gall is calling on T&T to be a part of this event. For more information on the upcoming concert, call 622-2936 or 476-1918.
