?Mas band Trini Revellers is using the Christmas season, now upon us, to get masqueraders in the Carnival mode. Last Friday, the former Band of the Year winner (large) employed the services of parang group Los Cantos de Amor to give diehard and perspective masqueraders some yuletide cheer, while they viewed creations from its portrayal, Festivals of the World. The weekend shindig was one of many events on Trini Revellers' activity calendar for the coming fortnight. Bandleader David Cameron said the events would serve to further promote the costumes in the band. Cameron said although Trini Revellers is registered as a large band, the outfit was intent on staying manageable.
Its target is 2,500 masqueraders. During this year's national festival, the band had 100 more. Despite the lucrative opportunities associated with expanding the band's size, Cameron said: "We're looking to trim down. The infrastructure on the road is unmanageable. When you get to Adam Smith Square, it's the worst. People converge into the road because the pavement has vendors. "Piccadilly Street, East Dry River, is no problem. The Savannah is okay, but downtown is problems. We have to address that with the Mayor (Murchison Brown)."
