The latest edition of Eu-Forum, the arts forum based at Euphoria Lounge on Dundonald Street, featured poetry, art, music and the usual good lime.
Patrons took their time in arriving, but by 9 pm the venue was packed with people, each receiving a complimentary glass of wine on entry. With DJ Tillah Willah spinning her eclectic mix of tunes in the background, the crowd mingled and milled around the main space of the venue, as well as the rooftop patio. They took the opportunity to peruse the artwork that had been mounted for the occasion, including photography by Joanna de Silva and Darvin K Manwah, and ornate glass beads designed by Timeika Fletcher Birmingham. When showtime was announced, patrons gathered downstairs to take in poetry and music. Eu-Forum producer Kevon Foderingham introduced poets and musicians who came to the front and shared their work.
Devon Wong shared a poem on unrequited love. Karen Francisco, daughter of Dr Sparrow, made her poetry performance debut, sharing from her book of poems. Rachel Collymore read a sensual piece about the delights of a kiss. Among the musicians that performed were Bernard Yawching, whose song cautioned that silence in the face of injustice was the same as consent. Malik Innis performed a song which he said was a souvenir from a relationship that didn't work out. The band Wheel, comprised of bass guitarist Sheldon Manoo and vocalist Crystal Katerson, shared some soulful, blues-infused numbers. And Foderingham had his turn on the mic, performing his own composition. Eu-Forum is a production of RASH Magazine (Rage Art Soul Heart).
