?The Na­tion­al Ac­tion Cul­tur­al Com­mit­tee (NACC) held its Young Kings Ca­lyp­so Monarch com­pe­ti­tion on Feb­ru­ary 1, at Pier 1, in Ch­aguara­mas. Rana Mo­hip re­ceived an award for his con­tri­bu­tion to clas­si­cal and folk In­di­an mu­sic. Al­so re­ceiv­ing a spe­cial award was Hugh Bor­de. His award was for his sig­nif­i­cant con­tri­bu­tion to the de­vel­op­ment of the na­tion­al in­stru­ment as cap­tain of Tripoli steel or­ches­tra. Eigh­teen con­tes­tants par­tic­i­pat­ed in the com­pe­ti­tion and Kwe­si Jef­fers was the even­tu­al win­ner. He was beat­en in the Top 20 Stars of To­mor­row com­pe­ti­tion by Guid­ance, but was not to be out­done on this oc­ca­sion. Guid­ance had to set­tle for third place.�Last year's Young King win­ner, Jer­vae Cae­sar, gave a spe­cial per­for­mance and thanked all for their sup­port. He sang That is Small Busi­ness.
