Lost in the hustle and bustle of Carnival 2010 was the Achievement Day exercise staged by St Francois Girls' College of Belmont last month at Queen's Hall, St Ann's. The event covered student achievement over the academic year 2008-2009. In her address, out-going principal Patricia Mc Intosh commended the students for their outstanding performance in academics, as well as in sport and culture, and lauded their selfless efforts in volunteerism as they ventured out into society to assist in alleviating the condition of the less fortunate.
Students of St Francois Girls' College give a standing ovation to out-going principal Patricia Mc Intosh.
Mc Intosh also urged the students to be part of the solution, in all areas of life, and not part of the problem, and to maintain their focus on God and family. She also reminded them of the School's mantra: Just focus and do it. McIntosh also praised the teaching and support staff for their hard work and commitment and thanked the School Board, PTA and alumnae for their dedication and support. The feature address was delivered by Pastor Clive Dottin of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
To a packed Queen's Hall, the St Francois Girls' College Steel Orchestra, a Sanfest winner, performs Shadow's Bassman.
He delivered a stirring and impassioned address in which he encouraged the students to keep God at the centre of their lives and to remain steadfast in the values and morals that they have acquired at the school and to conquer all challenges that they may encounter in their path to success.
