?Coreysan's one-man concert on Wednesday night attracted a gathering of music lovers with a taste for the extraordinary, at Casa de Ibiza on Tragarete Road in Woodbrook. His haunting vocals and bass-driven electronic beats created a mystical air at the cosy venue, as his lyrics spoke universal truths and musings on life. Performing songs from his CDs Coreysan and Light and Shadow, as well as music from his upcoming album, the multi-talented musician sang, played bass and layered pre-recorded beats from his laptop.
He also played the theremin, an early electronic instrument, all the while keeping up a friendly banter with the audience. He explained how the instrument, an unassuming looking black box, worked, saying it was made up of two AM radios, with the two antennae controlling volume and pitch. He waved his hands over it, seeming to magically draw out haunting sounds. "Basically, you play nothing," he said with a laugh. His rapt audience took in songs like If Love Was a Secret, Access Denied and Light and Shadow. (GM)
