Attorney Daniel Khan was on fire at the popular Sweet Lime Restaurant in Woodbrook on the last Tuesday in February, as he successfully defended his Backgammon throne, to become the first individual to ever achieve the elusive back-to-back victories.
Staged by the Trinidad Backgammon Association, last month's tournament was sponsored by East Lime Members' Club, based in Sangre Grande. Khan raised his game to a superior level as he faced off against his mightiest opponent, Jack "in the Box" Manazer. Speaking after his achievement, Khan said he loves this board game because it combines the intellectual challenge and strategy of chess, the logical thinking of checkers, and an ultimate element of luck.
Backgammon is a game which has been around for thousands of years and is one that has stood the test of time. This month's tournament is scheduled for March 30, on the holiday, with the next edition of Sweet Lime's monthly Wine & Jazz evening booked for March 24.
