The many times Do­minic Lau prob­a­bly sang "How could he know this new dawn's light would change his life for­ev­er"–Metal­li­ca's Un­for­giv­en 111 sin­gle, he had no idea he would one day be re­fer­ring to him­self. A sim­ple phone call dur­ing a com­pe­ti­tion host­ed by the Morn­ing Zoo show on 95.1FM the Best Mix, land­ed him and a friend front-row seats at the a Metal­li­ca con­cert in Hipo­dro­mo La Rin­cona­da in Cara­cas, Venezuela on March 12.

A big fan of rock mu­sic, Lau said it was the first time he had at­tend­ed a Metal­li­ca con­cert, and de­scribed the ex­pe­ri­ence as noth­ing short of amaz­ing. He said he was caught off guard with the news that he had won the com­pe­ti­tion. "I was dri­ving, lis­ten­ing to the ra­dio. I heard my name but didn't even re­alise it was me. It wasn't un­til my phone start­ed ring­ing off the hook that I re­alsied I had won," Lau said. Ac­cord­ing to the host of the Morn­ing Zoo, Jean Am­brose, apart from the two VIP tick­ets to the show, air fare, ho­tel ac­com­mo­da­tion at a five star ho­tel, and ground trans­port were al­so part of Lau's win­ning pack­age.

In ad­di­tion, he said, Lau re­ceived a 32-inch plas­ma TV, piz­za vouch­ers, jew­el­ry, and sev­er­al ham­pers. He said the com­pe­ti­tion was one of many host­ed by the sta­tion. Am­brose, who al­so at­tend­ed the con­cert, said al­though this was the sixth time he had the priv­i­lege of see­ing Metal­li­ca in con­cert, there was some­thing spe­cial about this show. And to the many callers who en­tered the com­pe­ti­tion but did not win, Am­brose ad­vised that they do not de­spair. "We have a lot more com­ing up. I just can't spill the beans yet," he said.
