The Hindu Monkey God, Lord Hanuman, is considered as the chief servant of mankind, according to Pundit Ramesh Tiwari. He told the annual Lord Hanuman Jayanti (Avatar) at the Edinburgh Hindu Temple, that Lord Hanuman is the main helper of all mankind and that He has the ears of Lord Rama. Lord Rama is the chief player in the Hindu religious text, the Ramayana. "We pray for rains to come and nourish Mother Earth so that WASA reservoirs will?be filled to capacity and the drought will end, that our food crops and other agricultural production will be regenerated," Tiwari said.
Hundreds of devotees from all parts of the country, dressed in red, came and joined in devotion to?Lord Hanuman. Pundit Seereeram Maharaj of the Shiva Kailash Hindu Mandir, Santa Phillipa Road, Caparo, told his overflowing audience, that,"the whole?issue of climate control now faces all mankind and all of us, regardless of our religions, pray for?our nation and the world." "No rains for almost two months now. We need water to survive. Man cannot?create water. Lord Hanuman is the Wind God?which brings rain," he said.
In today's society of convulsions, inertia, selfishness, moral, social and spiritual decay, Lord Hanuman has become the standard bearer and the embodiment of courage, self-control, selfless service, bravery, integrity and humility. Lord Hanuman Jayanti culminated the observance of Nau Raatri–devotion to the feminine form of God: Lakshmi, Durga and Sarsawati–and Ram Nomwi (Lord Rama's Avatar). The Ramayana defines Lord Hanuman as the personification of celibacy with easy access to all forms of knowledge and wisdom, and because of this synthesis, He has the unique capacity to co-ordinate thought, word and deed.
