"I never saw the beauty
of a sunset
Until I watched the
sunset with you
Then everything began to have a new meaning
And all my dreams were
coming true" Anonymous
Some say 'money can't buy love' but have you ever been perplexed when trying to create romance without dipping into your wallet?
A sunset is nature's way of blushing at us; why don't you seize the moment and flirt back. The beauty of the fiery colours makes a sunset the ideal setting for a quiet evening of romance. There are many beautiful sites where you can take your soulmate right here in sweet Trinidad and Tobago to share a romantic sunset.
Temple by the Sea
You and your loved one may never visit India, but that's no reason why you can't share an 'Indian sunset.'
"A beautiful sight is the Waterloo Hindu Temple with its two white onion shaped towers, which can be seen already from far away," remembers Emil & Liliana Schmid, a globetrotting couple and world record travelers.
It stands as a monument, silently telling the story of a single man's devotion to his God. When his first temple was demolished in 1952 by Caroni (1975) Ltd, Siewdass Sadhu in his adoration for God declared, "You broke the mandir on the land. Then I will build my mandir on nobody's land. I will build a mandir in the sea."
58 years after this seemingly impossible vow, a beautiful temple stands in the tranquil water. "We were lucky enough to travel here with a local from the island, who took us there at sunset. The whole backdrop to the temple with the ocean and mountains behind was fantastic," raves a traveler on www.tripadvisor.com, "Knowing the history behind the temple certainly makes the visit worthwhile."
Maracas Lookout
"I liked how the branches were forming a heart shape around the sunset," says delighted photographer Lawrence Moy Hing of the Maracas lookout at evening time. This is an ideal location because it offers you a breathtaking view of the silhouette of the Northern Range as well as the lights of Port-of-Spain.
This sunset along with strains of soft music coming from your car can be all you need to set a romantic mood.
Chaguaramas
"When the sun sets in the west, Chaguaramas comes alive at night," says the Chaguaramas Development Authority. This setting is perfect for beach lovers, because they can enjoy a seaside sunset while getting an interesting view of the little islands off the coast.
Store Bay, Tobago
"Our experience in Store Bay, Tobago left us sitting on the evening beach, our toes sunken in the wet sand as the high tide washed over our feet periodically," remembers Nadia of www.hereorthere.com, "As the sun started going down it was as if we were looking through polaroid lenses as a magical pastel painting took place before our very eyes."
People make interesting company, so come to Store Bay and experience a sunset complemented by other couples walking along the shore while the waves lap gently against the boats. "At the end of the day our lookout is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the breathtaking view of a Tobago sunset," according to www.mytobago.info, an online visitor guide.
Pigeon Point, Tobago
"The sun sets just over the western end of the beach, pointing the way to our Tobago villa, like a gold beacon in the evening sky," says a couple on the Amazing Tobago Vacations website after staying at a resort in Pigeon Point, "with the last drink of the day in hand, we looked out across the crumpled silver-sea and toasted one another."
The water is a startling aqua colour and very calm, adding to the beauty of the setting. "The long, secluded ribbon of sand leading up to the point is perfect for romantic strolls," they add. Prepare to be spell bound by the sunsets so be armed with your camera to capture these moments. Sunsets are a mesmerizing sight, but are even better when shared with the person you love. So go ahead and capture romance without spending a dime.
