It was a glorious day for some 65 children of Spring Village in Valsayn, when they graduated from a summer camp hosted by CUBS (Courage, Boldness, Untouchable, Strength) on August 21.
Among the graduants was the son of Chairman of the Tunapuna Piarco Regional Corporation, Khadijah Ameen. The six-week camp activities included hiking, excursions, dinners, swimming, arts and craft, and social graces–all catered to the holistic development of the juvenile participants.
The welcome address was given by seven-year-old Angali Seepaul, who later rendered an original calypso ditty. Selena Hosein got the approval of her peers, as she performed her version of the Waka Waka dance, and, much to the delight of all in attendance, little Hanna Harrylal delivered two selections on the national instrument. There were also several inspiring skits by senior Cubs members.
Over the next three months the group will be engaging in a needs assessment research strategy, followed by a forum entitled Youth Voices.
