Local Commonwealth Scholar in London Festival

Trinida­di­an per­former and writer, Car­o­line Neisha Tay­lor, is part of an ex­clu­sive con­tin­gent of in­ter­na­tion­al artists pre­sent­ing work at the CON­TAINS FAT Per­for­mance Fes­ti­val in Lon­don, Eng­land, from 23 to 29 June, 2010. CON­TAINS FAT show­cas­es the di­verse work of an in­ter­na­tion­al col­lec­tion of 23 emerg­ing artists from 17 coun­tries across Eu­rope, Asia, the Mid­dle East, Latin Amer­i­ca, and the Caribbean. From live art to per­for­mance in­stal­la­tion, the pieces cel­e­brate the im­me­di­a­cy and pow­er of the live per­for­mance en­counter.

The artists mak­ing work for the Fes­ti­val are dancers, ac­tors, di­rec­tors and fine artists who have been train­ing and re­search­ing in an in­ter­na­tion­al, mul­ti-dis­ci­pli­nary lab­o­ra­to­ry to­wards hy­brid forms of per­for­mance. They are all stu­dents of the MA in Per­for­mance at renowned Gold­smiths, Uni­ver­si­ty of Lon­don. The pro­gramme has launched a num­ber of in­ter­na­tion­al pro­duc­tion com­pa­nies, col­lab­o­ra­tions and re­search projects that op­er­ate both in Lon­don and across the globe. Tay­lor, who is a Na­tion­al Schol­ar­ship win­ner and ho­n­ours grad­u­ate from Williams Col­lege in the Unit­ed States, is cur­rent­ly study­ing at Gold­smiths as a Com­mon­wealth Schol­ar. She is no stranger to in­ter­na­tion­al fes­ti­vals, hav­ing de­buted her one-woman show, Pack Light, in the 2006 New York In­ter­na­tion­al Fringe Fes­ti­val.

Tay­lor has worked with a num­ber of per­form­ing arts com­pa­nies in the US, the UK, and here in T&T. Her re­cent the­atri­cal out­ings lo­cal­ly in­clude Sex, Lies & Mon­ey with Richard Ra­goo­bars­ingh, Ce­cil­ia Salazar, Deb­o­rah Bou­caud-Ma­son and Nigel Au­guste and Four­some in To­co with Ra­goo­bars­ingh, Glenn Davis, and Su­san Han­nays-Abra­ham. She al­so sings with the Mar­i­onettes Chorale and with El­la An­dall and has writ­ten for both stage and tele­vi­sion. Her eight to four job is at MEP (Me­dia & Ed­i­to­r­i­al Projects Ltd) in Port of Spain, pub­lish­ers of Caribbean Beat and Dis­cov­er Trinidad & To­ba­go mag­a­zines.
