I am glad that WikiLeaks is publishing all the nefarious backroom dealings the so-called First World countries have been having with opposition leaders in Zimbabwe, and other parts of Africa. Many of us who are thinking people of the African diaspora have long suspected these backroom deals and frequent news bulletins reporting negative things about Zimbabwe.
I am astonished at an offer made to the revolutionary leader of a country to go off to some other place, where he will just be the "N word" rather than a man of stature who fought for ten years to rid his country of the racist policies of Ian Smith. That this offer was made by another African is even more astonishing. How can governments of African countries ever believe that the West means them and their peoples well? I cannot wait to see the contents of the correspondence that resulted in the duly elected President of Haiti, Jean-Bertrand Aristide, being arrested and sent into forced exile by American soldiers.
Recently, in walking past a Unitarian church in my home city in the US, I saw a quote from Thomas Jefferson that said he shuddered for his country when he contemplates that God is just.
The leaks should make European and American governments stop and think, and rethink their positions of contempt for non-white countries, whose resources they need to function.
