Pedi­cab, a one-of-a-kind ser­vice set to ease traf­fic con­ges­tion and pro­vide a safe and eco-friend­ly trans­porta­tion al­ter­na­tive on "The Av­enue," is be­ing of­fered by Dig­i­cel. The ser­vice was launched on May 4 on Ari­api­ta Av­enue, Wood­brook. Pedi­cabs are hu­man-pow­ered tri­cy­cles that can ac­com­mo­date two pas­sen­gers seat­ed be­hind the dri­ver/rid­er. They are made of re­in­forced steel and equipped with elec­tric turn sig­nals, brake lights and a loud bell, and are con­sid­ered a safe mode of al­ter­na­tive trans­porta­tion in busy zones.

Run­ning sole­ly on ped­al pow­er, they have a non-ex­is­tent car­bon foot­print, mak­ing them en­vi­ron­men­tal­ly friend­ly as well. A re­lease from Dig­i­cel stat­ed that its dri­vers have gone through rig­or­ous train­ing and have de­tailed knowl­edge of the area. They will be clear­ly iden­ti­fied by of­fi­cial ID cards. The ser­vice will run dur­ing the week from Wednes­day–Sat­ur­day evenings through­out Ari­api­ta Av­enue and en­vi­rons from 6 pm to mid­night, free of charge to the pub­lic.
