In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the city of Port-of-Spain, the Digicel Foundation launched a mural competition titled the Digicel Foundation Extraordinary T&T Art Competition on February 18.
The Extraordinary T&T-themed mural competition, which runs from February 18 to March 16, has been incorporated to further complement and beautify the Nelson Mandela Port-of-Spain City Corporation/Digicel Foundation Play and Fitness Zone that was officially launched in 2013.
In 2014, the Digicel Foundation added state-of-the-art play park equipment and used the initiative to launch their first Kiddie Carnival Pump.
With $16,000 in prizes to be won, the competition is open to all citizens of T&T between the ages of 1235 years. One winner will be selected from each of four age groups to have their artwork displayed in the park, courtesy Digicel Foundation, a release said.
All participants competing will be allowed one entry that must be original. The artwork can be crafted through drawings or paintings done with oil, acrylic and water colours.
It should, however, be noted that digital, photocopies or computer-generated artwork will be ineligible.
The judging criteria will be based on two categories, the first being Inspiration which seeks to focus on the imagination and creativity of the artwork; the second category deals with the Relevance to the theme; how the artwork depicts T&T as extraordinary.
Participants are asked to refrain from any creations that may be abusive, defamatory, offensive, derogatory, degrading and/or otherwise unacceptable in nature.
The deadline for all art entries is 5 pm on March 16.
