The atmosphere is not only filled with the beautiful fresh breeze of the mountains but one that exudes pure love, kindness and generosity. Fairwinds is a home away from home. The amazing story of founder Angela Arnasalam, a release from blink-bmobile said, explains her passion for this non-profit organisation and her desire to help give children a start in life, a desire that blink-bmobile company appreciates and is pleased to support.
"I have always wanted to give back because that's all I know. My mother was always giving back and helping people. Our house always had someone staying there. Plus all that I have was given to me. I have been blessed to bless others," said Arnasalam.
Located in the hills of Mason Hall, this breezy sanctuary nestled amongst fruit trees was named Fairwinds by owner Arnasalam. Ten years ago it also became the official residence of the Fairwinds Foundation where it hosts all of the foundation's events.
Now in its 12th year, the foundation gets ready to host its annual Charity Jazz Brunch, which is its main fundraiser that enables Fairwinds to run other projects such as, the Back to School Book Bag/Stationery drive; Eat What You Grow initiative; Scholarship Programme for Tertiary Education; Christmas party and gift distribution.
The Fairwinds Foundation is eternally grateful to key sponsor blink-bmobile for its continued support and valuable contribution to the annual Charity Jazz Brunch, which enables the foundation to assist approximately 270 children through its initiatives.
According to TSTT chief marketing officer Camille Campbell, "We believe that partnering with the Fairwinds Foundation not only allows TSTT to fulfill its commitment to social responsibility but to contribute to the developmental needs of the nation's youth and in particular Tobago, in a meaningful and long lasting way."
Similar to previous years, this year's Charity Jazz Brunch promises to be a time of fun, food and entertainment. The brunch takes place on April 26 at the Fairwinds Foundation, Top Hill, Mason Hall/Les Coteaux Road, from 10 am to 4 pm.
The Fairwinds Foundation primarily aims to address the needs of impoverished children of Les Coteaux, Mason Hall and environs and prides itself on hosting many philanthropic projects. As part of its mandate, the foundation seeks to encourage the educational development of the youth by promoting positive change in lower socio-economic communities.
The Fairwinds Foundation views itself as an extension of the hands of God to assist and empower the less fortunate on the island of Tobago. Previous years have seen resounding support for the annual Charity Jazz Brunch, which allowed Fairwinds to extend its hands outside the Mason Hall/Les Coteaux borders to assist the Happy Haven School for special needs children and the Tobago School for the Deaf, Speech and Language Impaired located in Signal Hill and Bon Accord respectively.
"The children were elated to see that there were people who thought about them so highly to give them gifts for Christmas," said Annette Neptune-Henry, acting principal of the Tobago School for the Deaf, Speech and Language Impaired, which caters to the five-18 age group.
