Last Thursday, the Medulla Art Gallery at Fitt Street, Woodbrook, hosted a book talk and signing with artist and acclaimed photographer Wyatt Gallery for his new book, Jewish Treasures of the Caribbean.

The book, a photographic essay by Gallery, highlights the little-known history of the first Jewish communities in the New World as seen through the oldest remaining synagogues and Jewish cemeteries in the Western Hemisphere.

Gallery, the recipient of a Fulbright Fellowship, received his BFA from NYU Tisch School of The Arts in 1997. His photographs are in numerous public and private collections such as the Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the George Eastman House, and Comcast.

His work has been reviewed in The New Yorker and featured in Esquire, Departures, Cond Nast Traveler, The New York Times, and Oprah's OWN Network, amongst others. Gallery's past books–Tent Life: Haiti and #SANDY have successfully raised over $100,000 to support communities affected by natural disasters.

Gallery is represented by Foley Gallery and Redux Pictures in New York City.
