One man was killed and two oth­ers in­jured dur­ing a shoot­ing in Arou­ca on Sun­day night.

Po­lice said the vic­tim was Ajay Ga­jad­har, 28, of Rice Mill Road, Gar­den Vil­lage, Arou­ca.

Among the in­jured was a 36-year-old of Ari­ma Old Road, Ari­ma; and a 27-year-old of Rice Mill Road, Gar­den Vil­lage, Arou­ca.

Of­fi­cers on pa­trol around 7.50 pm on Feb­ru­ary 4 along the Ari­ma Old Road, were stopped by res­i­dents who re­port­ed the shoot­ing at Rice Mill Road which is close by, and begged them to help the vic­tims.

Up­on ar­riv­ing at the scene, of­fi­cers found the two men bleed­ing from gun­shot wounds about the body.

As res­i­dents and med­ical of­fi­cials took the men to the Ari­ma Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, where they were at­tend­ed to, a third vic­tim ar­rived seek­ing med­ical care.

Ga­jad­har, who was shot 12 times, died while un­der­go­ing emer­gency treat­ment.

The Ari­ma vic­tim was treat­ed for a sin­gle gun­shot wound to the right leg, while the sec­ond vic­tim from Arou­ca was treat­ed for mul­ti­ple gun­shot wounds about the body.

Both vic­tims were sta­bilised be­fore be­ing trans­ferred to the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Com­plex, Mt Hope.

The trio had re­port­ed­ly been lim­ing along Rice Mill Road when a white Nis­san B14 with four men stopped.

One man whose face was cov­ered with a bal­a­cla­va al­leged­ly be­gan fir­ing at the group.

As the men turned to run, Ga­jad­har fell to the ground, while the two oth­ers were able to hide as the gun­man’s car sped off.

Foren­sic of­fi­cials re­cov­ered 19 5.56 mm spent shell cas­ings, and 15 nine mm spent shell cas­ings at the scene.

And in a sep­a­rate shoot­ing at Febeau Vil­lage, Laven­tille around 2 pm yes­ter­day—a man iden­ti­fied on­ly by his alias “Fa­thers” was shot by an armed man at his house.
