Pres­i­dent Chris­tine Kan­ga­loo dis­trib­uted the in­stru­ments of ap­point­ment to the se­nior le­gal prac­ti­tion­ers in­clud­ing her hus­band Ker­wyn Gar­cia and her broth­er Col­in Kan­ga­loo dur­ing a cer­e­mo­ny at Pres­i­dent’s House in Port-of-Spain, a short while ago.

The oth­er ap­pointees were In­de­pen­dent Sen­a­tor An­tho­ny Vieira, An­gos­tu­ra Hold­ings Lim­it­ed Chair­man Ter­rence Bharath, Trinidad Pe­tro­le­um Hold­ings Lim­it­ed Chair­man Michael Quam­i­na, Deputy Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions (DPP) Joan Honare-Paul, Ron­nie Bisses­sar, Ra­jiv Per­sad, Rishi Dass, Ida Ever­s­ley, John Heath, Lar­ry Lal­la, Leslie-Ann Lucky-Sama­roo, Ja­son Mootoo, Ravi Ra­j­coomar, Dip­nar­ine Ram­per­sad, and Bernard Shep­pard.

New­ly elect­ed Law As­so­ci­a­tion Pres­i­dent Lynette See­baran-Suite was sched­uled to re­ceive her ap­point­ment dur­ing the cer­e­mo­ny but could not at­tend due to the death of her moth­er. A sep­a­rate cer­e­mo­ny will be held for See­baran-Suite at a lat­er date.

In her brief ad­dress to their at­tor­neys and their rel­a­tives who ac­com­pa­nied them, Pres­i­dent Kan­ga­loo en­cour­aged them to be mind­ful of their new sta­tus and re­spon­si­bil­i­ties in the le­gal pro­fes­sion.

“To­day is not on­ly about heavy re­spon­si­bil­i­ties, how­ev­er. It is al­so about cel­e­brat­ing this sig­nif­i­cant and hap­py mile­stone in your ca­reers,” she said.

“You have all worked ex­treme­ly hard, year af­ter year, in mat­ters and in cir­cum­stances which have chal­lenged and stretched you to the lim­its of your pro­fes­sion­al abil­i­ties, and to­day, your pro­fes­sion rec­og­nizes and cel­e­brates your ef­forts,” she added.
