An 18-year-old woman was placed on a one-year bond to keep the peace after pleading guilty to assaulting her 66-year-old boyfriend.
She pleaded guilty to malicious damage, assault occasioning a wound, and larceny, when she appeared virtually before Magistrate Cheron Raphael yesterday.
The woman was arrested following investigations into the report by a 66-year-old man, who said he was at home in east Trinidad on September 7, when they reportedly got into a heated argument.
During the quarrel, the woman threw items and damaged household appliances, as well as the windshield of the man’s vehicle, and also assaulted him, causing abrasions to his hands.
She was also accused of stealing several items and cash amounting to TT$11,750.
Worker sent for
psych evaluation
A 24-year-old man who was arrested after allegedly chopping his employer at his Rio Claro workplace last week, was yesterday ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
The accused was not called upon to enter a plea when he appeared virtually before Magistrate Ava Vandenberg-Bailey in connection with the November 19 incident.
He was remanded to the St Ann’s Psychiatric Hospital until his next court appearance on December 8.
He was charged on Wednesday with wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
Hard labour for
church bandit
A 23-year-old labourer, who pleaded guilty to breaking into a church in Valencia on October 28, has been sentenced to nine months hard labour.
Daniel Ramoutar, of Orion Circular, KP Lands, Valencia, appeared before Magistrate Cheron Raphael in the Sangre Grande Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Police said at 1 pm on October 27, the pastor of the church secured the building and left.
He received a call around 7.40 am the next day that the front door of the church was open. The pastor arrived to find one 43-inch smart TV missing.
Inmate charged with
double murder
An inmate currently serving time for murder at the Maximum Security Prison, Golden Grove, has been charged with the 2014 killings of Radha and Krishna Ramdeen.
Yunus Ali, 28, was charged with the offence via warrant this week by PC Sewdath of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Three.
The 63-year-old man and his 57-year-old wife were found hacked to death at their home in Fullerton Village, Cedros, on January 6, 2014.
Their house had been allegedly ransacked and a quantity of cash stolen during a home invasion.
2012 cold case solved
The Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Cold Case Unit has solved the 11-year-old murder of Muchiri “Much” Polo.
Polo, 23, of Belmont, was killed on April 10, 2012.
The matter was referred to the HBI Cold Case Unit for assessment and review by the Cold Case Specialist.
The unit’s investigators conducted enquiries on November 18, which led to the arrest of a Chaguanas man.
Stefan Lewis, also called Stephon, a labourer and PH driver, was charged with Polo’s murder; as well as possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.
