Police officers have found 23 packages of marijuana stashed in the speaker boxes of a vehicle in Moruga.
The vehicle’s occupants, a 33-year-old from Enterprise and a 24-year-old from Longdenville, Chaguanas, were subsequently arrested.
According to a police report, at about 11 pm on Holy Thursday officers of the Southern Division JAPS, PCs Phagoo and Bissoon, stopped and searched a white 323 Mazda driven by the 24-year-old suspect, of Mudd Lane, Longdenville, along La Rufin Road, Moruga.
The officers checked a music speaker box in the care and found 23 sealed, wrapped packages with a total weight of 12.24 kilogrammes. The packages contained compressed marijuana.
In an unrelated incident, officers of the Port-of-Spain Division seized a revolver, four rounds of ammunition and a camouflage jacket during an exercise in Belmont on Wednesday. No one was arrested.
The exercise was conducted between 10 am and 1 pm at Dais Street and was spearheaded by Sr Supt Floris Hodge-Griffith, Supt Ablack, Insps Deonarine, Commissiong, Sgt Bharath and Cpl Arthur.
