There were two new deaths—two fully vaccinated people—from COVID-19 in Tobago, during the period Sunday 21 to Saturday 27 August 2022, according to the latest weekly update from the Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection, in the Tobago House of Assembly (THA).
Tobago’s death toll from the disease is now 281, as at Saturday, August 27. Two COVID-19 deaths had been recorded the week before, Sunday 14 to Saturday 20 August 2022. Those deceased persons were said to have been unvaccinated.
In addition, the THA Health Division report notes 106 more people tested positive for COVID-19 in Tobago, last week. The number of active infections, as at Saturday, August 27, was 137. This is a drop from the previous week (August 14 to 20, 2022), at which time there were 210 active cases.
In terms of hospitalisations for COVID-19, the Health Division reports that 18 people are hospitalised. One person is said to be partially vaccinated; 10 of these patients have not been vaccinated against the disease, while the remaining seven patients are fully vaccinated.
The Tobago COVID-19 update also reports that patients continue to survive the disease as 177 people were certified as recovered from COVID-19 during the period August 14 to 20, 2022.
A total of 10,575 in Tobago have recovered from COVID-19 since March 2020—up from 10,398 the previous week.
