Efforts to contact Hamel-Smith yesterday to clarify the issue proved futile. During yesterday's House session, Opposition Leader Keith Rowley sought to raise the appointment of security agency director Ramnarine as a matter of urgent national importance. House Speaker Wade Mark, however, said the issue did not qualify under Standing Order 12, but could be filed under Standing Order 11. During debate on the Firearms bill, PNM MP Donna Cox also queried the appointment of the new security agency director.
