Al­so present at the event was Brigadier Roland Maun­day, who stat­ed that there was an ur­gent need for strength­ened pa­trolling and in­ter­dic­tion plans, as T&T was one of the tran­sit points for the flow of nar­cotics, which he said brought with it arms traf­fick­ing and mon­ey laun­der­ing. Maun­day added that the De­fence Force had been as­sist­ing lo­cal law en­force­ment or­gan­i­sa­tions to com­bat crime for the past ten years and en­cour­aged of­fi­cers to be dili­gent and com­mit­ted to the task ahead.
