Swede robbed of $22,000 camera

A male res­i­dent of Swe­den was robbed of his cam­era at Old St Joseph Road, Laven­tille, around 9.30 Mon­day morn­ing, the for­eign­er told po­lice. The Swede was walk­ing un­der the over­pass when he felt a pull from be­hind. He turned around and saw a man run­ning off with his Nikon B300 cam­era and lens val­ued at $22,300. The sus­pect, who es­caped in the di­rec­tion of Beetham Gar­dens, was de­scribed as be­ing of African de­scent, dark in com­plex­ion, ap­prox­i­mate­ly six feet tall, slim built and with a low hair­cut. The Swede did not give chase.

In­quiries are con­tin­u­ing. Mean­while, a male res­i­dent of Ja­maica, who is stay­ing at an inn in Port-of-Spain, checked his suit­case for a pouch con­tain­ing US$3,000 and re­alised it was miss­ing on Mon­day morn­ing. He told the po­lice that last saw the mon­ey around 8 am on Fri­day. In the in­ter­ven­ing pe­ri­od, sev­er­al peo­ple had ac­cess to the room. In­quiries are con­tin­u­ing.
