No dis­ci­pli­nary ac­tion will be tak­en against the Op­po­si­tion MPs who vot­ed in sup­port of for­mer prime min­is­ter Patrick Man­ning.Chair­man of the Peo­ple's Na­tion­al Move­ment (PNM) Franklyn Khan moved to in­voke dis­ci­pli­nary ac­tion against them yes­ter­day,but the mat­ter was turned down by the Gen­er­al Coun­cil.Among those who sup­port­ed Man­ning's mo­tion to al­low Par­lia­ment to have his at­tor­neys ques­tion wit­ness­es who were called to as­sist the Com­mit­tee of Priv­i­leges probe against him were Amery Browne, Fitzger­ald Jef­frey and Pa­tri­cia Mc In­tosh.There was a heat­ed de­bate at the marathon meet­ing which went in­to the late evening.

Sources told Sun­day Guardian Mc In­tosh was vo­cal in her sup­port of Man­ning, say­ing that de­spite what had been said of the for­mer leader he had good in­ten­tions to take the coun­try for­ward. Jef­frey stood by his de­ci­sion. Op­po­si­tion Leader Dr Kei­th Row­ley, sources said, re­frained from com­ment­ing dur­ing the meet­ing.Sources said: "There are is­sues with­in the PNM but at this time po­lit­i­cal heal­ing is the most im­por­tant fac­tor."-Ani­ka Gumbs-San­di­ford
