Tomorrow's Cabinet meeting will give "serious consideration" to the Dangerous Dogs legislation, after Monday's horrendous killing of Denise Rackal in Chaguanas, Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar said yesterday.

Rackal, a security guard died an excruciating death when she was attacked by a group of pit bulls while she was walking to work. The dogs are owned by policeman Daryl La Pierre. Asked about yet another attack by pit bulls yesterday, Persad-Bissessar said: "Oh my God...again!" She added: "Certainly on Thursday we'll have to give serious consideration to the matter." "The Act was passed some time ago and we knew it was flawed and I know the Attorney General has had his eyes on reviewing the legislation with a view to putting something in place that can protect our people." On Monday, National Security Minister Subhas Panday expressed concern about the situation. Lionel Rackal, husband on the victim, had said he was "treated like a criminal" on the scene when he went to speak with the dogs' owner. (GA)
