Hours after he met with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar yesterday, President George Maxwell Richards revoked the ministerial and senatorial appointments of Mary Kathleen King, Minister of Planning, Economic and Social Restructuring and Gender Affairs. The revocation was with immediate effect.
Following is the notice sent out by the Office of the President:
"It is hereby notified for general information that the President, acting in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister, in exercise of the power vested in him by subsection (2) (e) of section 43, subsection (9) of section 3 and subsection (3) (c) of section 77 of the Constitution of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, has revoked, with immediate effect the appointment of Ms Mary Kathleen King as a senator and Minister of Planning, Economic and Social Restructuring and Gender Affairs, made by Instrument dated 28th May, 2010."
