The President's revocation

Hours af­ter he met with Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar yes­ter­day, Pres­i­dent George Maxwell Richards re­voked the min­is­te­r­i­al and sen­a­to­r­i­al ap­point­ments of Mary Kath­leen King, Min­is­ter of Plan­ning, Eco­nom­ic and So­cial Re­struc­tur­ing and Gen­der Af­fairs. The re­vo­ca­tion was with im­me­di­ate ef­fect.

Fol­low­ing is the no­tice sent out by the Of­fice of the Pres­i­dent:

"It is here­by no­ti­fied for gen­er­al in­for­ma­tion that the Pres­i­dent, act­ing in ac­cor­dance with the ad­vice of the Prime Min­is­ter, in ex­er­cise of the pow­er vest­ed in him by sub­sec­tion (2) (e) of sec­tion 43, sub­sec­tion (9) of sec­tion 3 and sub­sec­tion (3) (c) of sec­tion 77 of the Con­sti­tu­tion of the Re­pub­lic of Trinidad and To­ba­go, has re­voked, with im­me­di­ate ef­fect the ap­point­ment of Ms Mary Kath­leen King as a sen­a­tor and Min­is­ter of Plan­ning, Eco­nom­ic and So­cial Re­struc­tur­ing and Gen­der Af­fairs, made by In­stru­ment dat­ed 28th May, 2010."
