New po­lit­i­cal leader of the Con­gress of the Peo­ple, Le­gal Af­fairs Min­is­ter Prakash Ra­mad­har says he is ready to act as prime min­is­ter if asked to do so by Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bises­sar.Un­der the Fyz­abad De­c­la­ra­tion es­tab­lish­ing the Peo­ple's Part­ner­ship, the lead­ers of the mem­ber units of the Gov­ern­ment are el­i­gi­ble to act as prime min­is­ter dur­ing Per­sad-Bisses­sar's ab­sence from the coun­try.

Ra­mad­har was ques­tioned dur­ing yes­ter­day news con­fer­ence to an­nounce the names of three of his deputy po­lit­i­cal lead­ers."And act­ing as prime min­is­ter will be a great ho­n­our and yes, I am up to that chal­lenge," he added.Ra­mad­har said the struc­ture of the Peo­ple's Part­ner­ship had to be mod­i­fied.He said a COP team was to be es­tab­lished this week­end "to come up with our views on how the struc­ture should work."He said when that process was com­plet­ed, the pro­posed changes would be pre­sent­ed to the oth­er mem­bers of the part­ner­ship for ac­cep­tance or fur­ther amend­ments.
