Warner: No big difference to me

Works and Infrastructure Minister Jack Warner says he is not concerned about promotion or demotion but is just fixated on getting his job done. Warner spoke to the media yesterday at a ceremony to begin work on a dilapidated portion of the Point-a-Pierre Road, Vistabella. He said: "I am not bothered about demotion or promotion. My concern is about delivery. When I go to people's constituency and see bad roads and bad drains, I wish I had the money, or time or energy to fix it for them right away. I am not concerned about the glamour and so on."

Warner also said the removal of his transport portfolio had now left him with two state boards to oversee.

"I had 16 boards and now I have two, so what is the big difference. It doesn't make a difference to me," Warner said. What affected him, he said, was when he was unable to help people when their homes were undermined by landslips and poor drainage. Warner said he came into Government with nothing and he would leave with nothing. When asked whether he believed he would receive enough funding for his ministry in the next budget, Warner said: "It is left to be seen whether I get the money to do the things I want to do. "If I don't get the money, the people will be able to judge on what I can do or what I have failed to do. I will do it to the best of my ability as never before. "Whether it is Ministry of Works or Works and Infrastructure, I shall be the best one you shall ever see."
