Doctors have still not been issued curfew passes, more than a week after the State of Emergency (SoE) was declared in the country. This was revealed yesterday by secretary general of the Medical Professionals of Trinidad and Tobago (MPATT) Dr Shehenaz Mohammed who expressed concern about the situation. She said doctors have been reporting for duty and those who have to work stay overnight at the hospitals. She said while there are on call rooms for doctors at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital, she does not know if such accommodations are available at the San Fernando General Hospital and the Sangre Grande Hospital.

"Consultants work on call and if they are called out for a surgical case after 9 pm they will not be able to reach the hospital. We would really like to advise the authorities that essential services should have been priority in terms of issuing passes." Attempts to reach South West Regional Health Authority (SWRHA) chairman Dr Lackram Bodoe for comment on this situation have been unsuccessful.
