Po­lice were up to late yes­ter­day search­ing for a man who in­de­cent­ly as­sault­ed a ten-year-old school­girl in Ce­dros. A re­port said around 7.20 pm, the girl was at her aunt's home when a man, in his 20s, ap­proached her and took her to a fig patch where he com­mit­ted acts of se­ri­ous in­de­cen­cy on the girl. The girl's moth­er told po­lice her daugh­ter got so scared she bit the man's hand and be­gan to scream. She broke free of the man's clutch and ran away.

Act­ing Cor­po­ral Seer­at­tan and a par­ty of of­fi­cers from the Ce­dros Po­lice Sta­tion vis­it­ed the area and con­duct­ed in­ves­ti­ga­tions. Of­fi­cers said an ar­rest was im­mi­nent. The girl was tak­en to the Point Fortin Area Hos­pi­tal where she un­der­went an ex­am­i­na­tion which con­clud­ed she was not raped. Con­sta­ble Mitchell is con­tin­u­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tions. (KF)
