Carnival money ready by March 3

The Ch­agua­nas Car­ni­val Com­mit­tee will pay $1mil­lion prize monies come March 3. The an­nounce­ment was made yes­ter­day by Ch­agua­nas West MP Jack Warn­er speak­ing with re­porters at J'Ou­vert cel­e­bra­tions in his bor­ough.

Warn­er took in the ear­ly morn­ing ac­tiv­i­ty on the Ch­agua­nas Main Road. Act­ing Ch­agua­nas May­or Gopaul Bood­han who en­joyed him­self with the J'Ou­vert band Jun­abo, said se­cu­ri­ty for the sea­son was a ma­jor con­cern.

In Cou­va, Ram­c­hand Ra­jbal, Chair­man of the Cou­va Car­ni­val Com­mit­tee, is hap­py that cel­e­bra­tions are pro­ceed­ing with­out un­to­ward in­ci­dent. Ra­jbal said the Cou­va Com­mit­tee is al­so ex­pect­ed to pay out prizes with­in the month. How­ev­er, they are ap­peal­ing for cor­po­rate as­sis­tance for oth­er events. J'Ou­vert in cen­tral Trinidad got go­ing af­ter 6 am in Ch­agua­nas and Cou­va. There was heavy se­cu­ri­ty at both venues with sol­diers and po­lice watch­ing over the Ch­agua­nas Main Road and a heavy po­lice pres­ence.
