Watchman charged with murder of waitress

A lit­tle over a week af­ter 23-year-old wait­ress Anu­rad­ha Parey's body was found at a busi­ness place in San­gre Grande, a 33-year-old watch­man ap­peared in court yes­ter­day charged with her mur­der. Rishard Ali, of Boys Town, San­gre Grande, ap­peared be­fore Mag­is­trate Ejen­ny Es­pinet in the San­gre Grande First Court. Ali was charged with mur­der­ing Parey on Ju­ly 8 at his fa­ther's agri­cul­tur­al shop, An­dre Street, San­gre Grande.

Her nude body was found there af­ter in­ves­ti­ga­tors re­ceived an anony­mous tip-off. Parey was found naked and was cov­ered with a sheet. An au­top­sy on her body by foren­sic pathol­o­gist Dr Valery Alexan­drov at the Foren­sic Sci­ence Cen­tre, St James, stat­ed Parey died from blunt-force trau­ma to the head. Ali was rep­re­sent­ed by at­tor­ney Carl Quam­i­na. He will reap­pear be­fore Es­pinet on Au­gust 13.
