For­mer Peo­ple's Na­tion­al Move­ment (PNM) Cab­i­net Min­is­ter, John Don­ald­son, passed away this morn­ing at the St Clair Med­ical Cen­tre, Port of Spain.

He was 71 years old and was known to have been ail­ing for some time.

Don­ald­son served as Min­is­ter of Na­tion­al Se­cu­ri­ty and Min­is­ter of For­eign Af­fairs un­der the PNM ad­min­is­tra­tion.

He was a long­stand­ing ex­ec­u­tive mem­ber of the Op­po­si­tion and once held the post of par­ty chair­man.
