Collymore helps team to good position
Former West Indies medium pacer Corey Collymore had figures of 10-0-30-2 to help put Middlesex in a strong position on the first day of their County Championship Division One clash against Durham at Lord’s yesterday. The Bajan removed batsmen Scott Borthwick (4) and Michael Richardson (9) as Durham collapsed to 143 all out batting first. Discarded England pacer Steven Finn was also among the wickets, grabbing four for 46, while Gareth Berg grabbed two for 13. In reply, Middlesex got to 126 for five by the end of play yesterday. Collymore has had a decent season so far with 18 wickets in seven games at 27.83 apiece. Middlesex are currently placed fourth out of nine teams in Division One.
Meanwhile in Division Two, Brendan Nash fell for a ten-ball duck as Kent were bowled out for 324 by Worcestershire at County Ground. Nash, who had scored 199 not out and 126 in his previous two innings, is the fourth leading runscorer in the division with 861 runs at 57.1. At Hove, Bajan-born allrounder Chris Jordan made 48 as Sussex posted 314 all out against Derbyshire. Batting at number eight, the 24-year-old helped his side recover from 189 for six, hitting seven fours off 71 balls.
