A Jamaican cyclist who claimed he "faced hell" during a one-year stay in prison is back behind bars on another drug charge.Horace McFarlane spent Christmas in jail after his bail was rescinded following his arrest on a fresh drug charge after he allegedly attempted to export cocaine. He is due to appear in court early next month on the first charge.
He was initially arrested in September 2012 and was jointly charged along with American Devon Scotland and Trinidadian Afeisha Khan for possession of 1.060 grams of cocaine and 300 grams of marijuana. The three were arrested during a joint police exercise conducted in Freeport and Chaguanas. After spending almost a year in prison, McFarlane was granted bail in the sum of $75,000 last August. That matter comes up for hearing on January 8
McFarlane claimed that although he was not the owner of the property and the drugs were not found in the room that he was occupying, he was jointly charged with the persons he was visiting. He further alleged that he was treated badly while in custody because he was a Jamaican.McFarlane was in T&T to participate in a road race when he was first arrested.
