A Ja­maican cy­clist who claimed he "faced hell" dur­ing a one-year stay in prison is back be­hind bars on an­oth­er drug charge.Ho­race Mc­Far­lane spent Christ­mas in jail af­ter his bail was re­scind­ed fol­low­ing his ar­rest on a fresh drug charge af­ter he al­leged­ly at­tempt­ed to ex­port co­caine. He is due to ap­pear in court ear­ly next month on the first charge.

He was ini­tial­ly ar­rest­ed in Sep­tem­ber 2012 and was joint­ly charged along with Amer­i­can De­von Scot­land and Trinida­di­an Afeisha Khan for pos­ses­sion of 1.060 grams of co­caine and 300 grams of mar­i­jua­na. The three were ar­rest­ed dur­ing a joint po­lice ex­er­cise con­duct­ed in Freeport and Ch­agua­nas.Af­ter spend­ing al­most a year in prison, Mc­Far­lane was grant­ed bail in the sum of $75,000 last Au­gust. That mat­ter comes up for hear­ing on Jan­u­ary 8

Mc­Far­lane claimed that al­though he was not the own­er of the prop­er­ty and the drugs were not found in the room that he was oc­cu­py­ing, he was joint­ly charged with the per­sons he was vis­it­ing. He fur­ther al­leged that he was treat­ed bad­ly while in cus­tody be­cause he was a Ja­maican.Mc­Far­lane was in T&T to par­tic­i­pate in a road race when he was first ar­rest­ed.
