For­mer High Com­mis­sion­er to Lon­don Garvin Nicholas was among five new min­is­ters sworn in by Pres­i­dent An­tho­ny?Car­mona on­Feb­ru­ary 3.Nicholas is the new At­tor­ney Gen­er­al.

For­mer Brig. Carl Al­fon­so is the new Min­is­ter of Na­tion­al Se­cu­ri­ty.

For­mer So­ca War­rior Brent San­cho is the new Min­is­ter of Sport.

New­ly elect­ed Na­tion­al Joint Ac­tion Com­mit­tee leader Kwasi Mutema is the new Min­is­ter in the Min­istry of Works.

For­mer ad­vis­er to Lands and Ma­rine Re­sources Chris­tine Newal­lo-Ho­sein is the new Min­is­ter of the Peo­ple and So­cial De­vel­op­ment.

The five ap­point­ments were an­nounced yes­ter­day af­ter Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar re­voked the ap­point­ments of six Cab­i­net mem­bers in a reshuf­fle.

Sta­cy Roop­nar­ine's ap­point­ment to the Works Min­istry was re­voked but she was re-as­signed to the Min­istry of Gen­der.

The lat­est Cab­i­net reshuf­fle saw for­mer At­tor­ney Gen­er­al Anand Ram­lo­gan lose his post, along with for­mer Jus­tice Min­is­ter Em­manuel George, for­mer Sport Min­is­ter Ru­perth Gri­fith, for­mer Min­is­ter in the Min­istry of Na­tion­al?Se­cu­ri­ty Em­bau Mo­heni and for­mer Na­tion­al Se­cu­ri­ty Min­is­ter Gary Grif­fith.

The ap­point­ment of for­mer Sen­ate Pres­i­dent?Tim­o­thy Hamel-Smith was al­so re­voked. For­mer Gov­ern­ment Sen­a­tor­Razi­ah Ahmed was elect­ed new Sen­ate Pres­i­dent, and will act in Pres­i­dent An­tho­ny Car­mona's ab­sence.

Af­ter the swear­ing-in cer­e­mo­ny, which took placeat the Of­fice of the Pres­i­dent short­ly af­ter 8.30 am, the five min­is­ters took­the Oath of Al­le­giance of a New Sen­a­tor in Par­lia­ment.

Min­is­ter of Le­gal Af­fairs Prakash Ra­mad­har, who was al­so giv­en the port­fo­lio of Min­is­ter of Jus­tice, at­tend­ed the swear­ing-in along with Hous­ing?Min­is­ter Roodal Mooni­lal and Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Min­is­ter Vas­ant Bharath.
