Cur­rent chair­man of Guardian Me­dia Lim­it­ed, Gren­fell Kissoon, will now take up the po­si­tion of in­ter­im Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor of the com­pa­ny.

The move was an­nounced yes­ter­day by the GML Board of Di­rec­tors af­ter they ac­cept­ed the res­ig­na­tion of for­mer MD Lisa Agard, ef­fec­tive Ju­ly 17.

At the re­quest of the GML Board, Kissoon agreed to serve as in­ter­im MD while a suc­ces­sor for Agard was sought.

Kissoon is a sea­soned ex­ec­u­tive and was the for­mer GML Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor and Me­dia Sec­tor Head. The Board ex­pressed the view that the com­pa­ny was for­tu­nate to have the sup­port and lead­er­ship of such a well-qual­i­fied and ex­pe­ri­enced pro­fes­sion­al.

"I am deeply grate­ful for the won­der­ful op­por­tu­ni­ty af­ford­ed me to lead the Guardian Me­dia Group since May 1, 2014, and the ex­cep­tion­al­ly tal­ent­ed teams in print, ra­dio and tele­vi­sion," Agard said.

Kissoon thanked Agard for her con­tri­bu­tion to the Me­dia Group, and in par­tic­u­lar to her role in the de­vel­op­ment of the com­pa­ny's strate­gic plan.

Kissoon said, "Guardian Me­dia Ltd re­tains its strong po­si­tion in the me­dia in­dus­try and will con­tin­ue to fo­cus on tran­si­tion­ing the com­pa­ny to a mod­ern dig­i­tal era in­te­grat­ed me­dia en­ti­ty.

"Strate­gic in­vest­ments in new dig­i­tal prod­ucts, tech­nol­o­gy and peo­ple will en­sure that the com­pa­ny con­tin­ues to be rel­e­vant and sus­tain­able, now and in the fu­ture."
