Current chairman of Guardian Media Limited, Grenfell Kissoon, will now take up the position of interim Managing Director of the company.
The move was announced yesterday by the GML Board of Directors after they accepted the resignation of former MD Lisa Agard, effective July 17.
At the request of the GML Board, Kissoon agreed to serve as interim MD while a successor for Agard was sought.
Kissoon is a seasoned executive and was the former GML Managing Director and Media Sector Head. The Board expressed the view that the company was fortunate to have the support and leadership of such a well-qualified and experienced professional.
"I am deeply grateful for the wonderful opportunity afforded me to lead the Guardian Media Group since May 1, 2014, and the exceptionally talented teams in print, radio and television," Agard said.
Kissoon thanked Agard for her contribution to the Media Group, and in particular to her role in the development of the company's strategic plan.
Kissoon said, "Guardian Media Ltd retains its strong position in the media industry and will continue to focus on transitioning the company to a modern digital era integrated media entity.
"Strategic investments in new digital products, technology and people will ensure that the company continues to be relevant and sustainable, now and in the future."
