A sol­dier and two civil­ians charged with the at­tempt­ed mur­der of a 32-year-old man are ex­pect­ed to be tak­en be­fore a mag­is­trate in the San­gre Grande Court to­mor­row.

The vic­tim, Anil Singh, of Robin­son Lane, Guaico, San­gre Grande, is now ward­ed in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion at the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal nurs­ing a frac­tured skull, bro­ken ribs and oth­er in­juries to his body from the blows he re­ceived from the three men.

The three charged are the 22-year-old sol­dier who is at­tached to Teteron Bar­racks, Ch­aguara­mas, and two un­em­ployed men, ages 19 and 38, both of Guaico, San­gre Grande.

Po­lice re­port­ed that around 5 pm on Mon­day, Singh was alone at his home when he was ac­cost­ed by three men who be­gan to beat him. One of the men took up a piece of wood 4x4 and start­ed hit­ting Singh about the body. Singh col­lapsed and was left for dead as the men es­caped in a car.

A re­port was made to the San­gre Grande po­lice. Ag Cpl Randy Castil­lo, PCs Rishi Gadar, Rav­inash Gadar, WPCs Stephanie Sam­my and Nick­el Gon­za­les from San­gre Grande CID re­spond­ed.

On ar­rival at the scene, po­lice of­fi­cers found the man ly­ing in the yard with blood pour­ing from his head.

He was rushed to the San­gre Grande Hos­pi­tal and then trans­ferred to the Port-of-Spain Gen­er­al Hos­pi­tal, where he un­der­went emer­gency surgery and was ward­ed in a crit­i­cal con­di­tion up to late yes­ter­day.

The charge was laid by De­tec­tive Gadar of the San­gre Grande CID.
