CHESTER SAMBRANO
Eastern Division Police are reminding the public that there is a zero tolerance to Public Health Ordinance Regulations infringements in the district.
The warning comes as 21 persons were ticketed for failing to wear face masks in Sangre Grande yesterday.
According to a media release from the TTPS (Trinidad and Tobago Police Service), they were among 52 persons ticketed for various offences during a road check exercise which was conducted by officers of the Valencia Task Force, Criminal Investigations Department (CID), and the Sangre Grande Traffic Section, during the hours of 5 pm and 8 pm yesterday.
The release states:
“Eastern Division Police are strongly encouraging that when going about their business, that members of the public be sure to wear their face masks properly by covering both their nose and mouth, obey policies to wash hands and/or sanitise before entering business places, and to practice social distancing by keeping six feet away from the nearest person as far as possible.”
It adds that anyone without a face mask in public is liable to a fixed penalty notice of $1,000 which police are stressing will be fully enforced, to encourage adherence to the regulations and to ultimately curtail the spread of COVID-19.
