A police officer at the scene of the shooting incident that left 3 men dead and 3 others wounded, in Cedros, on September 5, 2024.

A Cedros community is in shock after gunmen stormed Icacos Point this morning, murdering three fishermen and wounding three Venezuelan immigrants.

Dead are 36-year-old Kareem Celestine of Icacos Village; Joshua Sadhoo of Fullerton Village; and a Point Fortin fishermen identified only as ‘Darko’.

Residents said the men were liming late into the morning when around 3 am, gunmen came to the beach via a boat.

The gunmen reportedly opened fire on Darko's vehicle killing Sadhoo. They then fired at Celestine's shed where he was with Darko.

The gunmen then walked to another house where the immigrants were and opened fire.

Kareem Celestine's father, Paschal, said his son had no quarrel with anyone.

“I can’t believe nobody… I ain’t see nobody… I don’t know… I don’t know,” Paschal Celestine told Guardian Media.

“He never told me that somebody and he had anything.  I know that never occurred because I just talked to him yesterday.  His mother made soup and carried it on the beach for them,” he recalled.  “So, I really can’t say what caused that to happen.”

The suspects behind the shooting remain at large and no arrests have been made.

Police are yet to determine a motive for the murders.
