The Police Service is reiterating its call for motorists to refrain from drinking and driving, following the arrest of four people during a DUI exercise in Sangre Grande.
“Motorists are reminded to not drink and drive, as this reckless and irresponsible behaviour puts them and other road users at risk of harm or death,” a statement from the TTPS said.
The Police Service also asserts that it will continue to clamp down on motorists who drive under the influence of alcohol.
According to the TTPS statement, the DUI Operation was conducted in the Sangre Grande district between 7 pm and 11 pm, on Saturday (November 9, 2024), along the Eastern Main Road.
During the exercise, a total of 22 drivers were stopped and administered breathalyser tests. Four motorists—ages 28 to 50 years of Guaico, Maracas and Cumuto—failed the tests and were arrested and charged by officers.
The exercise was coordinated by Snr. Supt. Paponette and involved officers of the Sangre Grande Police Station.
