The Po­lice Ser­vice is re­it­er­at­ing its call for mo­torists to re­frain from drink­ing and dri­ving, fol­low­ing the ar­rest of four peo­ple dur­ing a DUI ex­er­cise in San­gre Grande.

“Mo­torists are re­mind­ed to not drink and dri­ve, as this reck­less and ir­re­spon­si­ble be­hav­iour puts them and oth­er road users at risk of harm or death,” a state­ment from the TTPS said.

The Po­lice Ser­vice al­so as­serts that it will con­tin­ue to clamp down on mo­torists who dri­ve un­der the in­flu­ence of al­co­hol.

Ac­cord­ing to the TTPS state­ment, the DUI Op­er­a­tion was con­duct­ed in the San­gre Grande dis­trict be­tween 7 pm and 11 pm, on Sat­ur­day (No­vem­ber 9, 2024), along the East­ern Main Road.

Dur­ing the ex­er­cise, a to­tal of 22 dri­vers were stopped and ad­min­is­tered breathal­yser tests. Four mo­torists—ages 28 to 50 years of Guaico, Mara­cas and Cu­mu­to—failed the tests and were ar­rest­ed and charged by of­fi­cers.

The ex­er­cise was co­or­di­nat­ed by Snr. Supt. Pa­ponette and in­volved of­fi­cers of the San­gre Grande Po­lice Sta­tion.
