Some 89 persons were issued tickets for failing to wear their face mask properly (or at all) over the past 24 hours, moving the total number of tickets issued under this regulation to 15,387.
That’s in the latest COVID Regulations enforcement update from the Police Service, issued this morning.
In addition, nine people were arrested for breach of the Public Health Regulations, moving the total number of arrests under this offence to 1,328.
As such, the TTPS is renewing its call to citizens to adhere to the Emergency Powers and Public Health Regulations and welcomes information on possible breaches.
In its report for today, Wednesday 11 August 2021, the Police Service also notes that another six people were arrested over the past 24 hours for breaching the curfew stipulated under the current Emergency Powers Regulations. This latest group of six arrested persons has moved the total number of arrests for this offence to 1,223 persons, since the State of Emergency was activated in May.
The arrests would have been the outcomes of multiple patrols and other operations the Police Service carried out across the country over the past 24 hours—some 383 patrols and 73 roadblocks in all, during that period.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to take a heavy toll on the TTPS.
Some 288 police officers are in quarantine at present, while the total number of those who have tested positive for COVID-19 now stands at 95 police officers.
