The Tranquillity Government Primary School teacher who was accused of verbally and physically abusing students of her standard five class has been ordered by the Teaching Service Commission to cease and desist from work with immediate effect.
Education Minister Anthony Garcia made the announcement at a press conference on Friday where he said the teacher would be barred from work until investigations are completed.
The Minister said an investigator has been appointed and has been given 21 days to provide a detailed report on the matter.
After that, the teacher would be told if she can return to work or not.
Garcia revealed that thus far a total of 14 allegations have been made against the said teacher.
An audio recording, allegedly of the teacher making abusive and insulting language towards her students at the Tranquillity Government Primary surfaced and went viral, prompting the Minister of Education to visit the school this week.
