A 29-year-old man of Arouca was shot dead yesterday.
According to a police report, at about 11.40 am Dillon Logan was at Manoram Road, Five Rivers, Arouca off Crown Street, when he was shot multiple times about his body.
Police said eyewitnesses told them Logan was sitting behind a house with workers of a Cepep gang when a man, believed to be of Venezuelan nationality, walked up to him and shot him several times. The gunman then escaped.
Logan attempted to run a short distance away but collapsed in front of a house where he died. Logan lived at LP#52 Williams Trace, Five Rivers, Arouca.
Police recovered nine 9mm spent shells on the scene.
The body was viewed by the District Medical Officer and removed to the Forensic Science Centre where an autopsy will be conducted today (Tuesday).
Police are yet to determine a motive for the killing that has brought the murder toll to 39 for the year thus far.
Officers from the Northern Division and Homicide Region 2 are investigating.
