The Anjuman Sunnat ul Jamaat Association (ASJA) President Imam Ahamad Hosein has encouraged students to be brave and work hard as they join the secondary school population.
Hosein was speaking yesterday during ASJA’s Education Board of Management awards ceremony at ASJA Boys’ College Auditorium in San Fernando for ASJA’s top three performing Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) examination students.
The students came from each of ASJA’s primary schools.
ASJA has seven primary schools, which are in Point Fortin, Carapichaima, Charlieville, Barrackpore, Princes Town, Rio Claro and San Fernando.
Hosein reminded the students to appreciate and be grateful to their teachers and parents for their sacrifices and support throughout their academic journey. Assuring ASJA’s continued support for their schools and students, he said students who worked as hard as they doid would continue to succeed.
“Never stop learning. Your academic journey has just begun. Be brave and study hard, and success will be yours,” Hosein advised.
Victoria District School Supervisor II Kenny Edwin said ASJA schools ensured that students were catered to and no child was left behind during the pandemic.
Edwin also said there has been a significant improvement in the SEA results compared to last year.
He indicated that on a national scale, ASJA Primary and Primary School Barrackpore excelled in the SEA exam based on data from the Ministry of Education.
“Generally, overall, those two schools far surpassed both the district average and the national average in terms of Mathematics, English Language Arts and Creative Writing, and that is something to be proud of,” Edwin said.
ASJA’s Education Board of Management member Latifoon Hosein also encouraged students to remain positive despite all the negative forces around them. “Believe in yourself, dream big, most importantly, always put God first,” she said.
