A bandit robbed the NP Gas Station on Western Main Road, Carenage, of nearly TT $30,000 on Sunday after overpowering the proprietress and fleeing with a cash bag.
The incident occurred around 6 a.m. on March 16, when the 39-year-old woman from El Dorado exited the booth to check the gas pumps before a shift change.
Reports indicate the 37-year-old suspect from Haig Street, Carenage, had been sitting on a sign near one of the pumps.
The woman reportedly greeted the suspect, as she was accustomed, before proceeding with her checks.
As she re-entered the booth, the armed suspect allegedly forced his way in behind her and demanded the cash.
When she resisted and fought back, the man beat her before pushing her to the ground and grabbing the cash bag, which contained TT $28,069.
As the suspect fled, the woman raised an alarm. Emergency responders later took her to the St James Medical Complex for treatment.
Police obtained CCTV footage from nearby businesses and homes as part of their investigation.
