23-year-old Bran­don John of Barataria was charged with the mur­der of Rox­anne Bar­row-Reyes and shoot­ing with in­tent against a 39-year-old man. 

He was al­so charged with pos­ses­sion of a firearm, pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion, pos­ses­sion of a firearm to en­dan­ger life and pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion to en­dan­ger life.

A 23-year-old man is ex­pect­ed to ap­pear be­fore a Port-of-Spain Mag­is­trate to­day, charged with the mur­der of Rox­anne Bar­row-Reyes and shoot­ing with in­tent against a 39-year-old man, which oc­curred on June 8th, 2022.

BRAN­DON JOHN, of Barataria, was al­so charged with pos­ses­sion of a firearm, pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion, pos­ses­sion of a firearm to en­dan­ger life and pos­ses­sion of am­mu­ni­tion to en­dan­ger life, fol­low­ing ad­vice re­ceived from Di­rec­tor of Pub­lic Pros­e­cu­tions, Roger Gas­pard SC, on Wednes­day 15th, 2022.

Bar­row-Reyes, 48, of Barataria, was stand­ing out­side her busi­ness place in the dis­trict with some oth­er per­sons on June 8th, 2022, when they were ap­proached by a lone gun­man who al­leged­ly shot in the di­rec­tion of the group. Bar­row-Reyes was hit and fell to the ground, af­ter which the gun­man al­leged­ly stood over her and shot at her again be­fore mak­ing his es­cape. A 39-year-old man was al­so shot and wound­ed dur­ing the in­ci­dent and was tak­en to the hos­pi­tal for treat­ment.

The ac­cused was ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with the in­ci­dent on Sat­ur­day 11th June 2022, by of­fi­cers of the Homi­cide Bu­reau of In­ves­ti­ga­tions (HBI), Re­gion Two.

In­ves­ti­ga­tions in­to the mat­ter were su­per­vised by ASP Dou­glas, W/In­sp. Sylvester and In­sp. Ram­jag and John, all of the HBI Re­gion Two.

John was charged with the of­fences by PC Joseph, on Thurs­day 16th June 2022, al­so of HBI Re­gion Two.
